Built for travellers, by travellers
Hostel123 is a free, editorially independent resource platform for anyone who believes travel is more than tourism.
Making youth mobility accessible to everyone
Hostel123.com was created with a simple belief: that travel — real, immersive, purpose-driven travel — should be within reach for every young person in Europe, regardless of budget or background.
Europe has an extraordinary infrastructure for young people to move, learn, and grow. Erasmus+ funds hundreds of thousands of student exchanges every year. European Voluntary Service connects volunteers with meaningful projects across every corner of the continent. Youth organisations run training courses, cultural exchanges, and entrepreneurship programmes in cities from Valletta to Vilnius.
But too often, this world is invisible to the people who would benefit most from it. First-generation travellers, students from smaller countries, young people without well-connected networks — they frequently miss out simply because they didn't know where to look.
Alongside opportunities, we cover the nuts and bolts of budget travel: how to find affordable accommodation, how to travel safely and responsibly, where to eat well on five euros, and how to connect with local communities rather than floating above them.
We believe the best hostel isn't just the cheapest bed — it's the one where you meet someone who becomes a lifelong friend, a collaborator, or a window into a world you hadn't considered before.

Editorial, not promotional
Every resource, link, and recommendation on Hostel123 is included because we genuinely believe it adds value for our readers — not because someone paid us to feature it.
When we link to external organisations like Projekta Malta — a youth development organisation running training courses and Erasmus projects — or to Erasmus Malta, we do so because these are genuinely useful resources for our audience. Same goes for community platforms like Volunteers Malta, which connects people with meaningful placements, and the GameOn project, which promotes board games as a tool for youth engagement and entrepreneurship.
We write in plain English. We avoid jargon. We try to be useful first, and inspiring second. If a guide on this site doesn't help someone take a practical step forward — whether booking a hostel, applying for an Erasmus grant, or finding a volunteer project — it hasn't done its job.
